Have you ever wonder how someone can use Iron Man costume for a cosplay event? Many cosplayers using not only costume from cloth but several cosplayer use costume from Eva foam. Eva foam is a kind of foam which has a good flexibility and high elasticity like rubber. Making your own cosplay prop is cheaper and if you already master it you can make money from it. There are 3 basic points you have to master before making your own cosplay prop from Eva Foam.
The first thing you have to do before making your own cosplay prop is knowing the material. Lots of material you can use like thick and thin Eva foam. For example, if you want to create a costume from Eva foam you have to know the Eva foam thickness for your costume. You can't make a neck part of your costume using thick Eva foam or you using thin Eva foam for the base of the chest armor.

Second is templates and patterns. You can't make your own cosplay prop if you don't know the templates and the patterns. This is quite difficult especially if you don't have the application and you have to compare the size of the prop from the picture. There are 2 applications which I suggest, the first one is Pepakura and the second is Paper Craft. But if you use an application you can't sharpen your skill in making templates and patterns, you just depend on the application.

After you know which material you will use and also you already know how to make the templates and patterns, the last thing you have to master is painting. Painting is very important and it needs skill and patience. For example, painting Eva foam is different from painting a board, you have to make a layer first before you can paint it.
As you can see, it is quite difficult to make your own cosplay prop especially if you use Eva foam as the material. It is only about patience and spirit to learn. Once you master the basic and the other matter, you can easily make your own cosplay prop. However, if you want to sharpen your skill in making prop you also have to learn from the people who already expert about making cosplay prop.
