Because people can operate the design softwares so easily, and the sensation that is obtained after making a design work are some factors that supports this hobby became much-loved many people. Not only to make it as a hobby, many graphic designers also take advantage of his ability in design to become a capital to strive that is by selling his work, this profession is called "Freelance Designer". In this essay will discuss about the steps to become a graphic designer, the steps are; preparation, practice, finding design style, and productive in creating.
    The first step is the preparation, to become a graphic designer first you have to prepare is the main thing that required to be a designer, you must have the tools to run the design software, the tool can be laptop, computer, and even smartphone. After that, you should install the design software that you will use to create your design, there are many design software you can use, you are free to choose whatever software you want to use, but before that, you should have hardware to support your design activities, such as mouse, pentab, etc.
    Then, the second step is the pratice, after in the first step you already have what it takes to create the design. After that, first you will adapt with the design software you use, maybe initially that is a bit difficult and dizzy but if you continue to practice in using it over time you will get used to it and you will no longer trouble in using the software. In addition, you can accelerate the progress of your practice by reading books about design or watch some design tutorial videos.
    Furthermore, in this third step you are required to find a special design style that you have that can be used as your characteristic. Because you can’t master all the kind of design styles, therefore you are required to try some design style until you find a style that suits you. If you are convinced of a suitable style, all you have to do is continue to hone it until you are proficient in the style.
    The last, it is productive to be creative, so like the term "a knife will be blunt fast if it is never sharpened" the skill in the design is the same, if you rarely or no longer make a design work, it is definitely slowly your ability in design will disappeared. Therefore, if you want your design skill to stay there, and increase, then all you have to do is keep on sharpening it.
    And a little addition, as mentioned in the introductory paragraph above, that says about "Freelance Designer", if you want to be a freelance designer, all you have to do first is promote your work through social media or something else, so there will prospective clients who are interested in using your services and then you can get the income from that job.
